  • On November 7th 2019 took place the kick-off meeting of "Tools4Breed - Challenge tests and genetic markers for Perkinsus as a tool for Ruditapes decussatus' selective breeding" project, led by Oceano Fresco, in partnership with IPMA and CIIMAR.

The meeting was attended by Andreia Cruz (Oceano Fresco), Domitília Matias (IPMA), Sandra Joaquim (IPMA), Ana Matias Ramos (IPMA) e Sergio Fernandez-Boo (CIIMAR).

The project started on September 1st, 2019 and has a duration of 2 years. Its main objectives are: i) To validate and implement efficient challenge tests that can be used during the breeding program of R. decussatus and that not compromise the biological reproductive abilities of the individuals; ii) Search for new biomarkers for Perkinsus resistance to use as a selection capability tool.
